š ChatGPT pulls an āUno Reverseā on us
Rumors have been circulating of a $42/mo price for a couple of weeks:
But the President of OpenAI, ChatGPTās parent company, put those to rest today with this announcement:

The improved ChatGPT offers:
General access to ChatGPT, even during peak times
Priority access to new features and improvements
Faster response times
Since itās a pilot, thereās no guarantee ChatGPT will remain at $20/month š
Meanwhile, Notion continues to release their writing assistant, āNotion AIā, to their reported 1 million user waiting list š®

š° Wharton professor uses ChatGPT to improve Wikipedia
Ethan Mollick, a Wharton professor of innovation and startups, experimented with ChatGPT by using it to write a new Wikipedia page on a topic he teaches:
Mollickās policy on AI generated work and ChatGPT is one of the more progressive ones in education right now. Hereās what he provides to his students:
āI expect you to use AI (ChatGPT and image generation tools, at a minimum), in this class. In fact, some assignments will require it. Learning to use AI is an emerging skill, and I provide tutorials in Canvas about how to use them. I am happy to meet and help with these tools.ā
ā ChatGPT releases anti-CHEATING tool in education war
But Professor Mollickās viewpoint is at war with many educators right now:
And Micahās school isnāt the only oneā¦entire departments are banning ChatGPT š³
In a move to repair their reputation, OpenAI dropped the āAI Text Classifierā:
Thereās just one teeny tiny, itsy bitsy problemā¦
our classifier correctly identifies 26% of AI-written text (true positives) as ālikely AI-written,ā
basically, you have a 74% chance of passing the detection even if your text is AI generated š¬
ChatGPT themselves say that:
āour classified is not fully reliableā
and
āit should not be used as a primary decision-making toolā
With an influx of companies already working on this solutionā¦
OpenAI will have a lot of competitors jumping at the opportunity to outshine ChatGPT.
š§ Google shows off (another) breakthrough in AI generated music
Yesterday, we did a breakdown of the amazing new tool out of Google, MusicLM, and its ability to create music from a variety of sources.

š OpenAI planning to replace software engineers?!

āThe company has been looking for 1000 remote contractors over the span of six months to help improve its AI models. While 60% of the contractors were hired to do basic things like "data labeling," the other 40% were computer programmers creating data to help teach the model code.ā
This isnāt the first time technology has replaced an entire class of workers. We use to reset bowling pins, manually facilitate calls with switchboards, and talk to travel agents to book our vacations!
However, this feels like the first massive shift for white-collar workers wellā¦ever.
Now itās just AWS customer support and data labeling!
Do this person exist.
